Mom and I have been considering doing a cleanse diet this winter, either starting in the middle of December or the start of January. I found this article interesting, but I'm a little worried about the possible side effects. I know when I went off of dairy, my system freaked out a bit and for a while, my skin and my stomach got worse. This was also interesting, just because it's a good outline for a simple detox, and seems simple enough. I don't know how effective something like this would be though, or how I'd feel doing it in the wintertime.
My brother and his wife did a cleanse diet for a while. I don't remember the specifics, except that they bought special supplements and had to drink a mix of water and something nasty that they called 'fish food.'
My will is not that strong. After a day of fish food, I'd probably run screaming to Dunkin' Donuts.
I've been kicking around doing a macrobiotic diet for a while. (For some reason, just the word macrobiotic makes me hungry for miso soup with seaweed. Strange.) The idea of eating with the seasons seems like a smart idea.
Any of you guys ever done a cleanse or detox diet? Or macrobiotic? Or fish food? let me know.

Oh yeah. My first cleanse was a colon cleanse. I would drink a chalky drink every day for 2 months, and parasite killer supps.
Then I did a 1 1/2 day liver cleanse. You only drink epson salt water for the day, and drink a concoction before bed. The next morning, you only pass water, chloresterol flakes, and bugs-if you have them.
I sell a really simple cleanse with Herbalife. It's 2 tablets in the morning, and 2 at night for 21 days. That works well too, and it doesn't interfere with your lifestyle.
A friend of mine did the 'lemonade diet', but I don't feel up for that because you don't eat food for 2 weeks.
Yeah, the idea of lemonade and maple syrup for days is a bit weird.
I know my mom and my sister used to do juice fasts. They'd get sick.
Gross, on so many levels.
Maybe you should try the Herbalife supplements so the cleanse doesn't interfere w/ your daily life. Everyone responds to fasts differently. Some feel energized rather quickly while others get sick for the first 2-3 days & then begin to feel better. I guess it depends on how much 'yuck' is in your system. Most of us probably have lots of yuck....
I'm having the feeling that I'm fairly full of yuck. I spent years eating little besides ramen noodles and baked potatoes. :P
I agree with Amber's comment. Especially about trying Herbalife Supplements
